Creamy Vegan Chocolate Nice Cream

Who says indulgent desserts can’t be healthy? This vegan chocolate nice cream proves that you don’t need dairy, refined sugar, or complicated recipes to create a treat that’s creamy, chocolatey, and utterly satisfying. Made from frozen bananas, cocoa powder, nut butter, and a splash of plant-based milk, this dessert hits all the right notes: rich, smooth, and naturally sweet.
When I think of nice cream, I don’t see it as a healthy alternative to store-bought ice cream, although it fits that bill. I actually prefer the softer texture that feels more like a soft serve, and the more natural sweetness. And the best part? It certainly doesn’t taste like a healthy snack. It feels so indulgent!
A dessert that feels decadent but is actually good for you
Bananas are the star ingredient, of course – they provide the ice cream-like texture without the need for added cream or additional sweetener. Cocoa powder adds that deep, chocolatey flavor. And a splash of plant-based milk helps everything blend up perfectly. I usually use soy or pea for their superior nutritional profiles, but oat, almond, or hazelnut would be lovely choices, too. Nut butter adds an extra layer of indulgence. The result is a healthy vegan chocolate dessert that feels decadent but is actually good for your body!
When it comes to toppings, the sky is the limit. My favorite options are a raspberry and a snickers-style version:
- For the raspberry, just add fresh, frozen, or freeze-dried raspberries. I like to add some puffed quinoa or amaranth for an added crunch. Cacao nibs are also a lovely addition.
- If you feel more like nuts, add some salted peanuts–it’s so good! You could also use some chocolate chips, shaved dark chocolate, or cacao nibs.
Other topping ideas are granola or coconut flakes. Of course, this vegan chocolate nice cream tastes just great without any toppings.
